Forgotten Pictures

Forgotten Pictures is a short illustration documentary that explores the lost world of popular art and the mostly forgotten people who created defining images of modern life in the days before television. Beloved by the public and scorned by art world, magazine illustrators enjoyed a heyday from the turn of the 20th century into the 1960s, when the market collapsed. Today, cultural historians are excavating their careers, working with families to recover and preserve their legacies. Their work captures a moment in time This film will include the recovery work of two institutions in particular: Washington University and the Norman Rockwell Museum. Hosted by DB Dowd.
